Hi — thank you for your interest in family photography. I’m Emilia Ahvenjärvi and Studio Kuulas specializes in family photography around Oulu. My style is timeless and natural: I want to capture your family’s genuine moments and emotions so the images remain meaningful for years. The photographs carry a film-like aesthetic — subtle grain and soft tones are part of my post-processing. In family sessions I focus on what matters most to you. The shoot is calm and playful — children are free to be children and parents can concentrate on being together. I give gentle direction so poses stay natural and the experience feels familiar, not staged. I reserve ample time so there’s no rush and we can capture storytelling elements and details: laughter, motion and small everyday moments. I offer sessions in my Kempele studio as well as on-location across the Oulu area. On-location shoots are ideal for narrative images — natural light and the surrounding environment bring a unique character to the pictures. In the studio you’ll get elegant, portrait-style family photos and detailed newborn or portrait images, independent of the weather. Beyond family photography, I photograph newborns and babies, one-year and child portraits, and I document christenings with a sensitive, documentary approach. Newborn sessions proceed at the baby’s pace and all sessions are handled with patience and care. My delivery includes a proof gallery and careful editing — you will receive beautifully finished digital image files and have the option to order high-quality printed products. I aim for clear, thoughtful editing that enhances the emotional core of the images while preserving a natural look.
