I’m Riikka, a family photographer based in Varkaus, and my passion is capturing the genuine, everyday and celebratory moments of families. My background as a registered nurse has taught me gentle guidance, patience and how to meet people where they are — qualities that shine in photo sessions, especially with newborns and infants. My natural-light studio is located in Varkaus’s old factory school, where I love the soft light and rustic atmosphere. The space offers a calm, homely environment for babies and families, and I’m also happy to photograph outdoors in nature when that fits your wishes. I approach family photography with gentleness and presence: my goal is for the session to feel relaxed, safe and authentic so that natural, touching images emerge. My style is documentary and softly timeless — I seek mood and connection rather than staged poses. When photographing children, I always work at their pace and through play; often the best images appear spontaneously through laughter, touch and togetherness. With newborns and infants the priorities are calm, warmth and flexibility. My nursing experience helps me create a safe atmosphere where families can let moments unfold naturally.
