I am Valeriia Astakhina, a family photographer based in Pitäjänmäki — I work passionately with families and expectant parents. Family photography is my way of preserving the small and large emotions of everyday life: close contact, laughter, tender moments and those fleeting instances that later become a family's most treasured memories. I specialize in family photography and prefer sessions that feel calm, natural and genuine. I favor natural light and usually photograph in the client’s home, where people relax more easily and true emotions arise spontaneously. For home sessions I bring the necessary props and simple arrangements, but the most important thing is to let the family be themselves — that authenticity shows in the images. I aim for the shoot to feel like a pleasant moment of being together, not a staged performance. I also photograph outdoors across the seasons: children playing in the park, blossoming trees in spring or the gentle light of autumn each create a unique atmosphere for every family. My approach is documentary and lifestyle-oriented — I strive to capture moments so the photos tell a story of time and feeling rather than just posed portraits. I offer maternity photography as well, focusing on the anticipation and closeness of the growing family. Pregnancy is a unique chapter, and I aim to record it warmly and respectfully. Newborn and baby sessions are part of my work too, but family photography is my primary focus, where I invest most attention — capturing the whole family dynamic and interactions. My working style is calm, empathetic and flexible. I give gentle guidance to families but avoid excessive posing — many of the best photos are born from small, natural interactions. I work to make everyone feel comfortable, adapting to routines and moods so we can capture honest expressions and connections.
